Intertek adds new energy vehicle test equipment

Release time:2020-12-19    Reading times:

Intertek operates what it claims to be the UK's highest capacity power test facility for electric and hybrid vehicles at its Milton Keynes laboratory.

From the initial plan to the final trial operation, the new equipment took less than 12 months. The installation of this equipment is the final stage of the initial investment since Intertek acquired tickford powertrain in 2013. The new facility, covering an area of about 50 square meters, includes a custom-made electric motor dynamometer capable of testing engines with torque up to 300 kW and 750 nm at speeds up to 18000 rpm. The equipment also includes a high-speed data acquisition system, which can be used to calculate the machine efficiency of motor and mechanical power analysis. The new facility is supported by two mobile 1000 V 150 kW battery simulators provided by D & V electronics, the highest specification test equipment manufactured by D & V worldwide. The battery simulator can also accommodate some smaller custom test equipment. The weight of the electronic machine dynamometer is more than 12 tons, and the weight of each battery simulation module is more than 0.5 tons. Tony Braddon, general manager of Intertek transportation technologies, points out that the battery simulator module is the most powerful power system on the market. Braddon added: "the platform is designed to facilitate future upgrades, and the battery simulator has been designated as an additional module that can be easily connected to provide up to 600kW DC power. The driveline in the new facility can be reconfigured to test low-speed engines at higher torque or higher speed engines at lower torque. "
